Thanks to the wonderful and awesome [livejournal.com profile] stolen_tea and his roommate, I have now got a place to stay on the hill within walking distance of the con! I really appreciate it, and thank you both for your willingness to give me a little space and make my life a bit easier!

Irish class went pretty well for me today, which was a pleasant change from how things have been lately, what with the exhaustion and my inability to focus much. I spent a fair bit of the day considering more stuff for the visa application and thinking about what to say in my letter to my brother. Beyond that, I didn't do much. It was nice to have a day where I wasn't really doing anything physical, or too emotionally draining. I'm thinking my next project for thinning things out will be going through the glassware in my cabinets - I have about a bazillion vases and really only use a couple of them regularly, so I need to sort them and put the ones I'm not keeping out in the garage for sale or some other method of disposal.

Dealing with the kitchen cabinets is going to be a bit of a challenge. It's not that there are a lot of them, but deciding what I need to keep and what to get rid of is going to be a bit of a challenge. Some things I've used a lot, but not very recently. I'm not entirely certain if I should get rid of them or not, though I will probably err more toward the "get rid of" end of the equation. If I'm in a studio or a small one bedroom in Capitol Hill, I'm unlikely to be inviting ten people over and making a whole turkey dinner again anytime soon. That narrows down the amount of stuff I actually need to keep.

Then there's the "yes, I'm keeping these, but should I pack them or should I leave them out because I might need them again before I have to move?" issue. You wouldn't think sorting through kitchenware would be such a complicated issue.

Anyway, exhaustion. It is eating my brain. As are the insomnigrackles. I need to slay a few and try to get some sleep.

For the kitchen stuff you don't keep, I might be interested in buying some of it, depending on what it is, of course. My own kitchen is pretty well stocked, but I've never owned a heavy roasting pan, for example, and I wouldn't mind having a good one. And some other things like miscellaneous cake pans I've always wanted (tube, bundt, round). Anyway, let me know once you decide what's not staying with you, and I may be interested.

Vases seem to be a thing everyone has lots of, if you keep the vase from every floral arrangement you've ever been sent. That would be the ordinary and not so special glass ones, of course. There are always a billion of them at the thrift stores, too.

I know I'm getting rid of the angelfood cake pan, as I seem to have inherited it from somebody else and have never used it. (I hate angelfood cake.) I've got an iron wok (a little rust that could be cleaned off) with stand, lid, bamboo steamer, and a few other accessories. There are more baking/roasting pans than I really need in various sizes. If you want to come by at some point and have a look, that would be cool.

I might be interested in some of the baking/roasting pans.

I already have a nice hammered steel wok. And while I don't hate angel food cake, I am not enough of a fan to add it to my cupboards. (Strange how you ended up with it.)

I remember now that my last ex got it, because he wanted to make angelfood cake. He liked the stuff. I think the pan got used once? He was not exactly a talented cook.

So far I've got three pyrex baking pans out in the garage. Seriously, if you want to come by and have a look, let me know.

What size are the pyrex baking pans? I could happily use another 9x13. I already have two of the 8x8 size, so wouldn't need to collect more of those. And I already have three pyrex loaf pans (8x4, maybe?). If you have 9x5, it's a bigger capacity and would be useful for recipes requiring that size.

I feel like it's kind of a long way to come up, but maybe I can contrive some other errands to get done on the way home.

I'm pretty sure I have a 9x13, possibly larger? All of them are larger than 8x8.

Maybe you could come up for dinner, then it would be worth it to have a look at the kitchen stuff?

Oh, I'd come up even without dinner but that's a good suggestion! I'm taking my niece to roller derby camp Friday night, but other nights the rest of this week and weekend look okay. I got a summons for jury duty starting Monday, so next week during the week isn't looking as favorable, unless I happen to get dismissed, or my service doesn't last very long (supposedly the average trial lasts only a few or several days, so I'm hopeful).

Would tomorrow evening or Saturday evening be okay?

I could still come up tonight (unless you already had dinner or made plans). I may text you if I don't hear something soon from you here. It's fine if tonight isn't looking good for you, though (I wasn't sure myself, but rallied a little late in the afternoon).

There's a small chance I may be asked to watch my brother's kids on Saturday night. My SIL is in Australia and he's solely responsible for two weeks, so I'm inclined to help him out a little if he asks.

Otherwise, next weekend is a possibility, or perhaps sooner, if my jury duty ends up happily washing out.

If you're available Saturday, let me know. I just got home, and had Indian with [livejournal.com profile] gra_is_stor a little while ago. I'll probably make some borscht tonight, though we don't have to have that tomorrow. ;)

What is Sherlock Con like? Y and I are going to the Star Trek con this weekend, so that kind of eats up my con budget for this fall, but Sherlock Con sounds very interesting too.

It's fun. It's a day visit con, so you need to find lodgings somewhere on Capitol Hill. Programming and other info can be found at the link here http://www.sherlock-seattle.org/

I had a great time last year and expect it to be a ton of fun this year, as well!

Thanks! It does sound like a lot of fun, I think I'll have to plan for it next year.
